The Leyton track and field team medaled in seven events at the Class D state meet held last weekend in Omaha.
Leading the charge was Zaili Benish, who medaled in four different events. Benish earned a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 45.64 seconds. She also took eighth place in the 100 hurdles with a clocking of 16.88 in the final after running a 16.35 in the preliminaries. Benish also ran to a seventh-place finish in the 400 with a time of 1 minute, 1.19 seconds.
In the 4x400 relay, Benish joined up with Riley Jones, Shawnee Gamble and Macey Roelle to place sixth in a time of 4:13.36.
