Bulldogs, Warriors to play in all-star games

Bridgeport and Leyton will both be represented at this week’s West Nebraska All-Star Games in Scottsbluff.

The 47th football game will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bearcat Stadium, while the 41st volleyball contest will start at 3 p.m. at Western Nebraska Community College’s Cougar Palace.

Bridgeport’s Cole Katen will be a member of the West team in the football game. During his senior season last fall Katen totaled 64 tackles, including 13 for losses. He also recorded two sacks for the Bulldogs, who reached the second round of the state playoffs. Bridgeport’s Aubrey Watts will play for the West volleyballl squad.Watts finished her career with a record-setting 2,054 assists from her setter’s position. She totaled 692 assists during her senior season last fall.Watts also totaled 24 service aces and 232 digs for the Bulldogs, who won the Western Trails Conference Tournament championship.
