Letter to the Editor

Editor and Residents of Morrill County: There has been ongoing circulation of a “DRAFT” memorandum related to a GIS boundary concern that occurred a few years ago. To be clear, this document is not a final report, not signed, and offers no confirmed authorship. It was never adopted as a conclusion by any agency, nor does it represent any disciplinary finding.

What was official, however, is the outcome that followed the complaint by the head petitioner. The Nebraska Department of Revenue Property Assessment Division reviewed the concerns and ultimately concluded that no action was taken under Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1330. In other words, the issue was formally reviewed and closed. That outcome was communicated to the Morrill County Attorney.

The head petitioner continues to reference a “boundary line change” made during a legal dispute. To clarify: this was not a boundary line change. It was a survey line update, and no assessment adjustments were made as a result.
