With the legislative interim in full effect, I’ve been embracing all that Nebraska has to offer, most recently by participating in the 2025 Heritage Days Parade. These events showcase the many meaningful ways Nebraskans connect, celebrate, and support one another. Heritage Days in Alliance brought families downtown for live music, local vendors, and evenings filled with laughter, dancing, and hometown pride, capturing the essence of what smalltown Nebraska is all about.
These gatherings provide vital opportunities for our youth.Through 4‑H exhibits and livestock competitions, young Nebraskans build leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement, skills foundational to their future. Nebraska 4‑H reaches one in three age‑eligible young people in all 93 counties, offering research‑based, hands-on learning that cultivates critical thinking, healthy decision‑making, and community involvement. Such experiences support our agricultural heritage while shaping tomorrow’s local leaders.
At the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island (August 22– September 1, 2025), youth programming intensifies with extensive livestock shows, petting zoos, live music, vendor booths, and rides that spotlight Nebraska’s rich heritage and talents. The fair serves as a late‑summer highlight for both rural and urban communities across our state.
