On August 6, more than 160 high performance cars converged on Arnold, Nebraska, for the 25th Annual Sandhills Open Road Challenge.
The first Sandhills Open Road Challenge was held in Arnold in August 2001.
Thirty-four enthusiastic drivers came from 17 states to participate in the first event of its kind ever held in Nebraska. The 2025 event begins on August 7 with the 22-mile Loup 2 Loup Open Road Race between Halsey and Purdum, Nebraska. The One Mile Shoot Out will be on Friday, August 8, to be held 14 miles north of Cozad, followed by an afternoon car show in downtown Arnold. During the car show, the ever-popular burnout contest is held, which is not limited to race entrants.
