City approves EMS ambulance ser vice agreement with Morrill County Community Hospital

A special meeting of the Bridgeport City Council was held Tuesday to consider a proposed agreement for EMS service and cooperation between the city and the hospital that would be in effect until July 1, 2026.The city would make an initial payment to the hospital in the amount of $75,000 on or before October 1, 2025, with monthly payments of $7,500 thereafter until August 1, 2026, for a total of $150,000 to be paid by the city to the hospital.

The agreement stated that on or before April 1, 2026, the hospital shall evaluate the viability of continuing its EMS ambulance service, determining whether sustained operation is feasible and, if so, under what conditions, which may include ongoing financial contributions from the city to ensure the service’s continuation beyond July 1, 2026.

Should the hospital deem the EMS service potentially viable past this date, the city and the hospital shall, by April 30, 2026, collaboratively establish and document the necessary terms for extending the Cooperation Agreement, which may encompass, but are not limited to, the city’s continued representation on the EMS Oversight Committee and/or financial payments to offset any anticipated or existing deficits in the EMS ambulance service’s operations.
