Wood carver Leonard Yellow Horse to be at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument

August 30-September 1

HARRISON—Agate Fossil Beds National Monument is planning to host wood carver LeonardYellow Horse, August 30-September 1, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the monument visitor center, located at 301 River Road in Harrison, Nebraska. Leonard Yellow Horse is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota, who lives on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Born in Chadron, Mr.Yellow Horse is a self-taught artist. He fashions cottonwood tree roots into faceless figurines based on his native people.

This cultural demonstrator program is supported with funding from Black Hills Parks and Forests Association, the official non-profit partner of Agate Fossil Beds National Monument.
