Leyton started their season with a strong road performance, defeating the Fleming Wildcats 36-20 on Friday. The Warriors, who also won their previous matchup against Fleming, showed no signs of rust, securing another victory to boast about.
Sophomore Colt Van Anne led the charge, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries while adding 48 receiving yards and another score. Junior Austin Beutler was a standout, completing 16 of 22 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns, and also catching three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Other key contributors included Jeremiah Hajek, who had three receptions for 66 yards, Kaleb Miller with three catches for 16 yards and a touchdown, Hunter Borges with two catches for 66 yards and a touchdown, and Calvin Borgmann with two receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown.
