Bulldogs tame Lions to tune up for unbeaten Bobcats

An overwhelming first quarter led the Bridgeport Bulldogs to a 56-6 rout of the Morrill Lions in gridiron action last Friday night in Morrill.The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 37-0 in the opening period and never looked back in registering their fourth straight victory and improving to 5-1 on the season. Bridgeport piled up 352 yards of total offense in the contest. Of that yardage, 211 was churned out on the ground. Five different Bulldog running backs each scored a rushing touchdown.They included Zach Jeffords, James Jeffords, Henry Blanco, Daxton Malcolm, and Ethan Keszler. Zach Jeffords led the team with 75 rushing yards on two carries. Blanco followed with 65 yards on five carries. James Jeffords finished with 39 yards on three carries and Malcolm had 28 yards on seven carries.

Quarterback Nik Weibert continued his stellar play as he tossed for three touchdowns. Weibert finished the game completing all four of his passes for 110 yards. Gage Nein, Landon Dean and Cody Bates all caught a touchdown pass. Nein caught two passes for 35 yards. Dean, Bates and Colton Faessler each made one reception. Ruben Dominguez completed 2 of his 5 passes for 31 yards.

Diego Quigley led the Bulldog defense with seven total tackles and an interception.
