For the third straight year, the Bridgeport football team advanced into the second round of the Class D-1 state playoffs after beating Clarkson/ Leigh 48-26 in a firstround game last Thursday in Bridgeport.
The Bulldogs, who improved to 8-1 with their seventh straight victory, will now attempt to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in school history when they hostWausa/Osmond in a second-round game Friday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
In the win over Clarkson/ Leigh, Bridgeport senior quarterback Nik Weibert carved up the Patriot defense like a Halloween jack-o-lantern.
