BRIDGEPORT—Students, staff, families, and veterans gathered at Bridgeport Public Schools this week for a stirring Veterans Day celebration, highlighted by heartfelt remarks from Colonel Harold J. Everhart, the Fleet Marine Officer for the U.S. Second Fleet.

Colonel Everhart, who boasts an impressive military career with deployments across the globe and leadership roles with the Marine Corps, was introduced with a comprehensive recounting of his achievements and personal decorations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal.Yet, it was his genuine gratitude and warm humor that quickly won over the crowd.

Laughing about having to follow “a bunch of cute kids” on stage, Colonel Everhart began by thanking veterans, students, staff, organizers, and especially the families in the Bridgeport community. “It is about more than just military service. It’s about the people in the communities that support it,” he reminded the audience.
