BRIDGEPORT—In the wake of a recent recall election that removed Morrill County Assessor Rose Nelson from office, the Morrill County Board of Commissioners convened on Monday, November 10, to address the resulting vacancy and handle routine county business.The meeting, held in the commissioners’ room at the courthouse, featured discussions on tax corrections, distress warrants, extension services, and more, culminating in resolutions to manage the assessor’s office and launch a search for a replacement.
The board—comprised of Commissioners Jeff Metz (chair), Susanna Batterman, and Josh Schmidt—opened with roll call and approval of the agenda and minutes from the October 28 meeting. Correspondence included a 2026 calendar and a $33.03 opioid settlement payment from Walmart, divided into three installments. Claims were approved without question via a roll call vote.
Transitioning to the Board of Equalization session, County Treasurer Loretta McCoy presented tax list corrections, including adjustments for personal property removals and refunds.Two corrections were approved, two were not.
