The City of Bridgeport has approved a new Volunteer Service Incentive Plan designed to recognize the commitment of volunteer fire and rescue members while strengthening the department’s long-term readiness and capacity to serve the community.
The program, formally known as the Fire and Rescue Volunteers’ Service Award Program, provides eligible volunteers with an annual incentive tied to active participation, ongoing training, and years of service. Under the plan, qualifying volunteers receive $599 paid directly to the volunteer and $300 contributed to a retirement account on their behalf, helping recognize both their current service and long-term commitment.
“Volunteer fire and rescue services are essential to the safety of our community,” city officials said. “This program reflects our appreciation for the time, training, and dedication required to respond effectively when emergencies occur.”
