Reflecting the joy and peace of Christmas

The Christmas season is about joy, peace, and spending time with family. We decorate our homes with festive lights. We embrace the traditions that make this time of year so special. We share meals with loved ones.We celebrate our blessings. Christmas is also an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of the season and unite around our shared values.

For my family, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. His humble arrival in a manger brought hope and healing to our broken world. Jesus taught that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” He taught that true greatness is found in serving others. Christmas is not simply about the gifts we receive. It’s about the gifts we graciously give through acts of kindness and service. Jesus’ message of love and service should motivate us.

Many brave women and men spend the holidays away from their families. We owe so much to these first responders, medical professionals, and law enforcement officers. They work tirelessly to keep us safe. They deserve our gratitude.
