Morrill County Commissioners tackle road disputes, fuel bids, and new HR role in final 2025 meeting

The Morrill County Board of Commissioners wrapped up the year with a packed agenda on December 23, addressing everything from a cross-county road dispute to fuel procurement and the creation of a new human resources position. The meeting, held in the commissioners’ room at the courthouse, also marked the final session for longtime County Clerk Kathy Brandt, who received heartfelt thanks from her colleagues for her service.

Road Dispute with Box Butte County A significant portion of the discussion centered on correspondence from Box Butte County’s attorney regarding a road dispute near the county line. The issue involves a potential prescriptive easement for a road segment that partially extends into Morrill County, near the residence of Lanny or Mandy Snell.

Commissioners noted that the road, which may date back to 1919 and includes access to an old schoolhouse, is primarily maintained by Box Butte County and has little practical impact on Morrill.
