District 47 legislative update

The Nebraska Legislature’s first full week commenced on Monday with an additional 171 bills that were introduced as of Friday’s adjournment. While bill introduction is still in progress,Wednesday marked the first day of legislative debate and consideration of measures that carried over from the previous session.

Members of the Legislature also welcomed former State Senator Fred Meyer who has been appointed to represent Legislative District 41. He previously served the district from November 2023 through the end of the term on January 8, 2025.

On Thursday, Governor Jim Pillen delivered his State of the State address, outlining priorities for the Legislature’s short session. He emphasized Nebraska’s economic growth, public safety, and fiscal strength, highlighting partnerships with the Trump administration that have supported infrastructure, agriculture, energy production, and workforce development.The Governor also noted major federal investments, key transportation projects, and Nebraska’s leadership in ethanol and cattle production.
