Will you be a par t of Bridgeport ’s volunteer fire department?

The Bridgeport Volunteer fire department would like to invite everyone interested in joining the fire department to come out to the fire hall February 11, at 6 p.m..We are looking to grow our department. In small rural areas like Bridgeport, volunteer fire departments are the backbone of our communities.Without the volunteers we would have to go to a paid service or not have one at all. A paid service would require more tax dollars from our little community. Not having a service would lead to higher insurance.

Being a volunteer fire fighter is demanding, trying to balance work, family, and personal time. But at the same time, it’s very rewarding knowing you are part of something greater than yourself. Come on out and meet some of the members, look at the trucks, and ask questions.

The city has started an Award program for the volunteers. Bridgeport is the 3rd department in the panhandle to offer this program. If I’m wrong, please feel free to correct me. It’s based on a point system. If you reach the 50 points required, you’ll receive a check at the end of the year for $599.
