Bridgeport wrestlers end season at boys state tourney

Four Bridgeport wrestlers concluded their season competing at the Class C boys state tournament held last week in Omaha.

While none of them were able to advance into the medal rounds, three were able to win at least one match and two reached career milestones.

Illias Lehman, competing at 157 pounds, nearly was in position to wrestle for a medal. After falling by decision to open his run, Lehman won back-to-back matches. He pinned Fillmore Central’s Chase Myers in just 1 minute and earned a 14-1 major decision over Gibbon’s Rogelio Hernandez. Lehman was then eliminated in the third consolation round. He finished his season with a final record of 39-10 and earned the 100th win of his career while at state.
