Bulldog girls fall to Gothenburg in C1-10 semis, will play Fort Calhoun in district final

Despite a setback to Gothenburg in the semifinals of the Class C-1, Sub-district 10 tournament last week in Ogallala, the Bridgeport girls basketball team still has the opportunity to play for a berth in the state tournament.

With a record of 22-4, the Bulldogs will travel to Fort Calhoun to take on the 23-2 Pioneers in the C1-7 district final on Friday at 4 p.m.The winner will qualify for the state tournament, which will be played next week in Lincoln. Bridgeport is looking to advance to state for the sixth straight year.

The Bulldogs had to rely on a wildcard to make a district final after falling 58-29 to Gothenburg in the C110 semifinals.The Swedes outscored the Bulldogs 24-5 in the third quarter to break open a tightly-contested game.
