Morrill County Commissioners Jeff Metz, Susanna Batterman and Josh Schmidt present Kathy Brandt with a certificate of appointment as an Admiral of the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska at the Morrill County Commissioners meeting on February 24. A Nebraska Admiral, and honorary title bestowed upon individuals by approval of the Governor, is the state’s highest civic honor. The certificate reads, “And I [the Governor of Nebraska] do strictly charge and require all officers, seamen, tadpoles and goldfish under your command to be obedient to your orders as Admiral— and you are to observe and follow, from time to time, such directions you shall receive, according to the rules and discipline of the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. Brandt joins a list of notable Nebraskan Admirals including: Johny Carson, Dick Cavett, Gerald Ford, Tom Osborne, Clayton Anderson, and Ben Nelson. JOHN ERICKSON
