On February 26, Nebraska Extension staff Sarah Paisley, Ashley Fenning, and Karen Petersen partnered with Bridgeport Public Schools to host a day-long Leadership Summit for Bridgeport’s 5th grade students. The event was organized in collaboration with Michelle Stevens, the elementary school counselor.
During the summit, students explored what it means to be a leader by participating in a variety of engaging activities. The day began with students taking a personality assessment, helping them better understand their individual strengths and leadership styles. Following the assessment, students were divided into small groups where they worked together on team-building activities designed to encourage communication, problem solving, and collaboration.
The summit concluded with a special guest speaker, Alexis Corman, a marketing employee at Westco. Alexis shared her personal leadership journey, highlighting the opportunities she had while in school, her experiences in 4-H, and how those early leadership experiences have helped shape her career today.
