The Bridgeport Board of Education convened its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library.
Under action items, the board unanimously approved three proposals by a 6-0 vote: the school carpet project, an engine overhaul for the 2006 MCI White Activity Bus, and the December 2026 graduation for student Cody Bates. The board also approved the retirement of longtime educator Kathy Baxter at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year by a 5-1 vote.
In a moving highlight of the evening, Mr. Schlothauer presented the family of Mack Haddix with a posthumous Bridgeport High School diploma. Haddix was a junior at BHS in 1943 when he left school to serve in World War II. The gesture honored his sacrifice and service to the nation.
