Shortly after taking office in February, and based on the Reports and Opinions from the PropertyTax Administrator in 2025, I was given instructions to adjust valuations for Bayard Residential, Rural Residential, and all Commercial properties in Morrill County to meet the requirements for statewide equalization.
Since the notices of value change were mailed at the end of May, my office has received a lot of questions. After investigating these concerns and speaking to folks in Lincoln, we discovered that the process I was told to use resulted in some unintended consequences. After additional review, not all of the parcels were affected. If you did not receive a notice for a particular parcel, the assessed value did not change.
