A pair of Class B heavyweights visited the Bridgeport Bombers for senior legion baseball action last week. Annually two of the top teams in the region every year, both Gering and Alliance left town with wins over the Bombers.
Alliance, which finished in the top three at the state tournament last season, posted a 16-1 win.With the Bombers trailing just 3-1 after two innings of play, the visiting Spartans tallied nine runs in the top of the third and added four more in the fourth to pull away. Alliance out-hit the Bombers by an 11-0 margin.
Hayzen Elliott scored Bridgeport’s lone run. Cody Bates, Kaden Shultz and Colton Faessler all reached base with walks. Zach Jeffords struck out one in 2 2/3 innings on the mound.Tray Wright and Cooper Benish saw pitching action in relief. Wright struck out a pair.
