After winning the 23Club 15U tournament a year ago, the Bombers Prep team knew they would have a great opportunity to repeat as champions the following year. Much of the team was coming back, more experienced, stronger, and with the taste of success already in their mouth. After a productive regular season where they went 7-1 in league play, the Bombers earned a bye to begin the tournament, setting them up with a second-round bout with Mitchell.
Rieken leads hit parade Bombers were running wild on the base paths against Mitchell, tallying fourteen hits and sixteen walks. Connor Rieken swung a hot bat as he connected on a team high four hits while driving in five runs.The box score was filled with a lot of crooked numbers, on a day when the Bridgeport Prep team won going away, 28-1. Cooper Benish and Hayzen Elliot also had multi-hit games while Benish, Benjamin Simmons and Jaxson Shultz each scored four runs, respectively.
Eliott, Colton Faessler, Rieken, and Isaac Dean crossed the plate three times each, Newhoff and Simmons combine for no-hitter Lucas Newhoff started the game for the Bombers and pitched two innings, walking two and striking out three.
