Throwback night

Throwback night

With league play wrapped up for the year and coming off a second consecutive championship season, the Bridgeport Bombers prep team hosted the Garden County Eagles for a final game of the 2026 slate. The Eagles entered the contest having experienced success themselves, marked by a winning season and second place finish in their own Border League tournament.

If you happened upon George Post Field that night, you noticed the Bombers were not in their usual black and white uniforms. They were adorned with the blue and red threads the Bridgeport Merchants wore in the early 1990s. On a beautiful night for baseball, the Bombers took the field dressed like players from the past.

Cars lined the fence on both sides of the field and were grouped behind the outfield fence as well. Bleachers behind home plate and by the visiting dugout were packed. Brats and hot dogs were coming off the grill continuously while drinks and popsicles flew out of the concession stand. A cool evening with a slight breeze. A game which began as the sun set and finished under the bright lights which surrounded the field.
