As we move through the interim, Nebraska continues to experience positive developments in economic growth, agriculture, and overall prosperity. I would like to share a few highlights from across the state. Nebraska ranked 5th overall in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best States Rankings, reflecting strong performance across key economic and quality-of-life indicators. The state ranked 3rd in infrastructure and 8th in fiscal stability, receiving recognition for its reliable public power system, renewable energy resources, transportation network, and business-friendly environment.
Nebraska’s economy continues to demonstrate perseverance, with the state’s unemployment rate remaining at 2.9% in June 2026, well below the national rate of 4.2%.
The state’s labor force also remained strong, with 1,099,013 individuals participating in the workforce, reflecting continued job growth, economic stability, and the strength of Nebraska’s workforce.
