With the city administrator’s chair still empty, Bridgeport’s mayor and city council took a practical step Thursday evening to keep economic progress moving. At their August 13 meeting in the Prairie Winds Community Center, they voted unanimously to join Trusted Community Development for a one-year membership costing $8,476.
Anthony Garola,TCD’s interim executive director, walked the council through what the partnership offers: help writing grants, supporting existing businesses, marketing available commercial properties, tackling workforce housing, and even assisting with youth career programs and upcoming political campaigns such as LB 357. Council members saw it as a smart way to tap outside expertise without hiring a full-time staffer. The deal passed easily on a roll-call vote.
The same practical mood carried into other decisions.
