For nurses, caring for others is more than a career—it is a calling. It is a way of life that has shaped most of their adult lives.The Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard honors these nurses through several deeply meaningful services, including final tributes at funerals, living tributes for nurses age 80 and older, and honor walks for nurses who are giving the gift of life through organ donation. The organization and nurse volunteers embody the core nursing values of human dignity, integrity, autonomy, altruism, and social justice.There is no charge for these services, as it is an honor to support the family and pay tribute to the years of service each nurse being honored has provided.
On August 22, nine nurses joined the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard (NNHG) Panhandle Chapter for onboarding and an induction ceremony at the Morrill County Hospital Training Center in Bridgeport.
These nurses are LPNs or RNs who have chosen to volunteer their time to serve their own.
