Bulldog basketballers train hard during off season
The Bridgeport boys basketball team participated in a team camp at the National Collegiate Athletic Association class D1 Northern Colorado campus recently. The boys played up in a 5A bracket, with the 6A bracket the largest classification in Colorado.

Hamburger feed kicks off Camp Clarke Days
The Bridgeport Lions Club once again hosted the hamburger feed to kick off Camp Clarke Days. This year, the venue was the commons area of the school, where people could eat and walk into the auditorium to enjoy the Camp Clarke Play. Hamburgers and hot dogs were offered, along with cold beans, coleslaw and water, for a donation. Bridgeport Girl Scouts served up root beer floats to the crowd.

Eight and under machine pitch Gold team
Bridgeport little league baseball is back in session, with games every night of the work week on home turf. Games are played on the school’s softball field, east of the football field behind the school. A set of covered bleachers is available, and there is plenty of space beside the dugouts for chairs. Each week throughout the summer, the Bridgeport News-Blade will feature photos of each of the six different teams. This week’s highlight game was the eight and under machine pitch gold team, coached by Kelly Roach, Grace Simmons, and Christina Deines.

Local officer awarded MADD Nebraska Hero
Morrill County Sheriff Deputy Brennan Andrew was in Lincoln last month to receive one of the 2023 Mothers Against Drunk Driving Nebraska Hero Awards. Andrew was recognized for his individual record of making eight Driving Under the Influence arrests in Morrill County in one year.Two of these arrests had a confirmed breath alcohol level over 0.150% and another arrest was the fourth offense for the suspect. Deputy Andrew cited one minor for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Possession of an Open Alcohol Container.

Lack of city administrator leads to appointments of council persons
The formal resignation of Dawn Martin from the city administrator position was accepted by council when the city council met in regular session on June 8 at the Prairie Winds Community Center. Martin held the job for less than thee months.
