City Council to approve budget September 25
The Bridgeport City Council met in regular session Thursday, September 14. After a motion to remove item number 10 (Discussion/Posssible Action to approve the department recommended removal of Alicia Pittman and Adam Pittman from the fire department), the Consent Agenda was approved.The Pittmans were in attendance and provided background related to the recommendation from the Volunteer Fire Department.The council decided to take no action regarding the item.

Warriors tame the Lions
The LeytonWarriors walloped the visiting Morrill Lions football team by a count of 60-8 in the non-league game in Warrior territory last Friday.With that win, Leyton upgraded its record to 1-2 on the season.They travel to Anselomo-Merna to face the Coyotes tomorrow. Both teams go into the game with a 1-2 record.

Bridgeport Public Schools welcomes Gering native Jason Blanco as the new secondary principal following the promotion of George Schlothauer from that position to Superintendent of Schools at Bridgeport. The superintendent’s position opened when Chuck Lambert, who had held the position for a number of years, took another position in Kansas.

Bulldogs compete at Gering Invite
Bridgeport Cross Country faced the heat last Friday when nearly a dozen teams competed at the Five Rocks Amphitheater for the Gering Invite. In the men’s division, Gering took first place, Alliance, second and Scottsbluff, third place. Bridgeport placed eighth overall. In the women’s division, Bridgeport placed fifth.
