The deadline for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms for the 20232024 academic year recently closed on June 30th. FAFSA is the form students and prospective students fill out to apply for grants, work-study, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education. Board approves admin compensation and handbooks for 2023-24 school year
The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on July 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present along with administration and Ms.Vonnie Brown.There were four action items; the first was consideration to approve compensation packages for Principal Simmons and Principal Reynolds for the 2023-2024 school year. Each received a 3.5% pay increase which is in line with the certified staff increase. Principal Simmons’ salary will be $93,200 and Principal Reynolds’ salary will be $99,400. The second item was the approval of the 7-12 Student Handbook. The third item was approval of the K-6 Student Handbook. The fourth item was the approval of the Staff Handbook for the 2023-2024 school year.The following items were covered in the administrative reports: 1. Bridgeport band member, incoming senior Cassandra Hopwood, has recently returned from a sixteen-day tour of Europe encompassing five countries, playing her saxophone in concerts in England, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
