Board accepts resignation of Jarod Dean
The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on January 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present, by a vote of 6-0, the consent agenda which included the approval of minutes, financial reports, bills and payroll. Consideration to approve the collective bargaining agreement with the BEA for the 2024-2025 school year was tabled. Consideration to accept the resignation of Jared Dean effective at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.The board approved his resignation with a 6-0 vote.

Order now for 2024 conservation trees
The North Platte Natural Resource District (NRD) is now taking orders for 2024 conservation trees. Landowners are encouraged to place their orders as soon as possible since trees are sold on a first-come, firstserved basis. The district has 33 varieties of one to two-year-old bare-root trees and shrubs available plus 9 varieties of potted trees. Trees are sold in bundles of 10 per species. Bare-root trees are $1.10 each and potted trees are $2.20 each. NRD trees are not for resale.

Dorothy May Smith of North Platte passed away December 26, 2023, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 96.

Simmons is new volleyball coach
Grace (Kraay) Simmons is Bridgeport’s new volleyball coach. Simmons played volleyball for the University of Rochester in New York from 2001-2005. She was the team’s libero and defensive specialist, and currently holds the second highest record for digs per set and third highest digs per season in the university’s history. Prior to that, Simmons was the setter for the Bridgeport Bulldogs. After college, she found a passion for sand volleyball, where her team won Houston’sThird Coast co-ed volleyball league.
