Bridgeport senior Ashley Lecher, daughter of Chris Lecher and Christy Lecher, has been awarded the Kearney Law Opportunities Program (KLOP), as well as the Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) scholarships. KLOP is a partnership between University of Nebraska at Kearney and the Nebraska College of Law, which recruits students from rural areas who will work to earn their bachelor’s degree at UNK and are guaranteed admittance to the College of Law at Lincoln if all requirements are met. Winning students receive full tuition scholarship to UNK, plus money towards room and board, then practice law in Nebraska’s smaller communities upon graduation. RLOP is a similar cooperative program between Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska Law school at Lincoln. Ashley is a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, B-Club, and Speech teams, as well as a golfer in the fall; she is undecided at this time which scholarship she will take.
