Youth from Gloryland Church

Youth from Gloryland Church spent their Sunday morning at the Dollar General in Bridgeport, purchasing needed food for the Bridgeport Ministerial Association Food Pantry. The kids spent three weeks collecting donations and raised $300.00. They shopped for over 200 pounds of cereal, canned goods, pop tarts and granola bars, fruit juices, cooking oil, and other food essentials. The food pantry is located at 1011 Main Street in Bridgeport and is open every Thursday for Morrill County residents in need. SARAH STRAWN

Vasquez named All-KCAC Scholar Athlete

Marce Vasquez, a 2018 Bridgeport High School graduate and current student at York College in eastern Nebraska, earned three awards this past Saturday at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) tournament in Ottawa, KS. Vasquez earned the All-KCAC Scholar Athlete award, the KCAC Champion of Character award, and a 5th place finish in the 285-pound weight class at the tournament.

Natalie Keenan-Vergil and Parker Farrenkopf stopped by the food pantry on Saturday, February 5 with twenty-eight dozen freshly prepared enchiladas to be given away on Thursday to patrons. The beef and cheese meals were donated by community members who purchased them through the annual enchilada fundraiser held by Gloryland Church in Bridgeport. The items were packaged in trays for easing warming and will be available during regular food panty hours on Thursdays each week on a first come, first served basis. The pantry, located at 1011 Main Street in Bridgeport, welcomes any food donations for use to those in Morrill County and thanks those who donated enchiladas, as well as Gloryland for preparing the food this year. Character Counts - Fairness

Bridgeport Elementary School held their Character Counts assembly on Wednesday, January 26, with two students from each classroom being awarded the Fairness award. Each student awarded receives a gold coin for their house competition, a ribbon and a certificate, and are treated to a punch reception with their special adults. Fourth grader Julia Basa was awarded the Queen of Character.
