Baby, it’s cold outside!
A winter storm socked the region with a foot of snow in Bridgeport over the Valentine’s Day weekend, just ten days after 65-degree weather had locals out in shorts. The official weather reported in town was an actual temperature of -26 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday overnight with bitter wind chills dipping as low at -36 on at least one residents’ phone.
The dry snow was fun for sledding and snow angels, but it was too powdery for making snowmen, and the brutal cold kept many people indoors. Youngsters were out making a few dollars shoveling driveways and sidewalks, while city residents were seen with snow blowers and 4-wheelers blading a path. City workers were busy all weekend clearing the snow routes. Main Street was rolled up with piles of the white stuff at the intersections taller than the vehicles.
