Bridgeport Girl Scouts participate in ‘Scouting for the Cure’ event
On Saturday, Feb. 23, four Bridgeport Girl Scouts participated in the states only remaining Girl Scout “Scouting for the Cure” event, held in Scottsbluff.
The Spirit of Nebraska Council began this event seven years ago in several locations across the state, with the emphasis on bringing awareness to young girls about what breast cancer is and what girls can do, even at a very young age, to help someone who is fighting cancer.
Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts in America, died of breast cancer in 1927, and that was the focus of this event until this year when the council held only one event in the state and decided to talk about all forms of cancers.
