Bridgeport residents urged to fill out income surveys received in mail
The City of Bridgeport is in the process of applying for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to help pay for a storm drain study and project along Main Street. As most of the infrastructure in the United States was put into place well over 50 years ago, the federal government gives this money to the states to dole out in order to rebuild failing infrastructure.
In Nebraska, in order for a community to qualify for CDGB money, it must have 51 percent or more of its residents meet the requirements of low to moderate income. This is determined with an income survey.
The City of Bridgeport belongs to Panhandle Area Development District (PADD), which is a consortium of communities in the panhandle, is a resource that allows the small communities in the panhandle access to resources like grant writing, zoning assistance, and studies surveys and reports that would be expensive to operate on their own.
PADD is the organization that is orchestrating the income survey for this grant project.
