The County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, August 13, 2020 and after the approval of claims, agenda and past meeting minutes, correspondences were shared. The Board of Equalization met, and County Assessor Rose Nelson reported on tax list corrections and a clerical error was officially corrected.
Chairman of the Board Jeff Metz presented a largely symbolic resolution making a formal statement on individual healthcare regarding COVID-19. The resolution reads, in part, that ‘the virus pandemic and various policies regarding the virus have arguably resulted in social ills including increased unemployment, business closures, suicides, poverty, domestic abuse, homelessness, and alcohol and drug abuse.’ Metz stated, “we recognize the constitution of the state of Nebraska and the U.S. Constitution, and we have certain rights that cannot be infringed upon”.
