Girl Scouts hold annual ceremony
On Thursday, October 8, Bridgeport Girl Scouts held their annual fall Investiture and Bridging ceremony at the public library. Twenty-four girls participated in the formal event, in which six girls were bridging to the next level of scouts, and eighteen girls were investing in their future commitment to the Girl Scouting program.
Bridging is an age-old tradition in Girl Scouts that begins with a flag ceremony and honors the girls’ achievements throughout the year before, celebrating their entry into the higher level of scouts by “crossing the bridge.” The girls reflect on their past accomplishments and look forward to their future opportunities. This semester, the girls will be focusing on outdoor skills, first aid, cooking, sewing, and the taking care of the elderly.
Girls awarded special pins above the usual merit badges included five-year pins to Janessa Lussetto, Elia Strawn, and Elizabeth Menke; tenyear pins were awarded to Delaney Pohl and Eden Strawn, indicating their number of years in Bridgeport Girl Scouts.
