History Nebraska archeologists host a dig at Courthouse and Jail Rocks
Nebraska has always been rich in history. From settlers traveling across the plains to reach a new destination, to Native American tribes, people have enjoyed the natural resources that the Morrill County area provides. In celebration of this rich history, History Nebraska hosted an archeology dig event this past weekend at Courthouse and Jail Rocks.
Archeology enthusiasts from all over gathered for two days, working hard together to uncover a variety of artifacts. Working in strong frigid winds Saturday an arrowhead was uncovered. With warmer weather on Sunday, people were in higher spirits and uncovered two tool fragments telieved to have been used to scrape the tissue and fat from animal hides to make leather.
