New stop sign at 9th and N St.
In the regular City Council meeting last Thursday, March 12, at the Prairie Winds Community Center, Andrew Gosselin was approved as a probationary member of the Volunteer Fire Department.
Four ordinances were discussed; the first was the third and final reading of the amended ordinance setting the amount of salary for the mayor to be $3,000.00 per year and members of the city council be $2,000.00 per year, commencing with the term of office that begins immediately following the 2020 election. This ordinance passed on the final reading with Councilman Gary Oltmann being the only dissenting vote. Oltmann then introduced an ordinance amending the Bridgeport city code schedule regarding stop signs, specifically their locations within the city, and to suspend the three required readings in the matter. The new stop sign will be at the intersection of 9th and N to stop the traffic from the north and the south, thus leaving the traffic on 9th street having the right of way when traveling east or west. This ordinance was also adopted on final passage, this time unanimously.
