Newly formed Tree Board gets right to work
The City of Bridgeport Tree Board is off to a good start this fall, with plans of getting Bridgeport back on the map with Tree City, USA. The board discussed the current tree ordinances and how they might be improved upon, the inventory of trees in the city, and trainings that are available to attend. The board would also like to have an organized Arbor Day celebration sometime in the future.
The city budged $7500.00 for the year for tree removal and replacement, and the Tree Board decided to use most of that money to take down a dozen dead trees in the city. The trees that are slotted for removal are those that are in residential yards but have grown into the city’s right of way and are threatening the delicate infrastructure either above or below ground. A local service will remove the lifeless trees.
