Pinocchio comes to town
The Missoula Children’s Theater came to Bridgeport last week with their adaptation of the children’s classic story, Pinocchio, conceived and written by Jim Caron. The performance was shown on Saturday with about 60 students in costume, Kindergarten through eighth grades, with Mrs. Babic on piano for the musical numbers and three student assistant directors.
In this tale, Geppetto, an old woman, fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy, as she wished to have a son. Unbeknownst to the lonely woodcarver, Pinocchio was carved from the trunk of an enchanted tree, and the Blue Fairy watched from afar until she could come in and give the puppet the gift of life. She also sends Jiminy Cricket with him to be his conscience.
