School board prepares for new year
The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 13th. All board members were present along with Principal Lecher, Principal Reynolds, Superintendent Lambert, Vonnie Brown and school board candidate Ryan Amateis. The meeting was livestreamed on STRIV and social distancing was observed. In action items the board approved on first reading the revision of several board policies and approved three new policies on first reading. Every year the board updates their policies and makes revisions where needed. The other action item was to allow employees to use Horace Mann as a 403b provider if they so desire. The administrative reports covered the topics below and the meeting adjourned at 8 PM.
1. Summer School will be July 27th – 31st. There will be two sessions that are the exact same. One session from 8 AM to 11:30 AM and the other matching session from 12:30PM to 4 PM. Students may only attend one of the two sessions. This for students that were in K-6th grade this past year. Topics taught will be Art, STEM, Outdoor Life, Drama, Spanish and History. Each topic will be taught in 30 minute increments to specific grade levels. Masks will not be required but allowed and social distancing will be practiced.
