SFC Justin Widhalm speaks at Veteran’s Day school program
Bridgeport Public Schools and their Veterans Day Committee once again provided the community an opportunity to visit with Veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States and honored them in their annual program and thank you dinner. Many students participated by displaying photographs, soldier uniforms, scrapbooks and stories of their family members who have served in the military. Each of the classrooms in the lower elementary grades made an arts and crafts project with the Veteran’s Theme and the Red, White and Blue of the American Flag.
Attendance was down this year for the meal, but an excellent dinner was had by those who were able to attend. After the meal, the program started in the auditorium with the Sons of the American Legion posting the colors, followed by Delaney Pohl performing the National Anthem. Superintendent Chuck Lambert welcomed those in attendance, as well as all the students who were watching in their classrooms, and the general public who were live streaming the event on Striv. Lambert noted that with all the changes that 2020 has brought, one of the things that does not ever change is the sacrifice and service that all veterans have given to this country.
