Ordinance creates position of Public Works Director

The Bridgeport City Council met in special session on Thursday, August 27, at 6:00 with one councilman absent. During routine business, Mayor Browne read a letter from Head Librarian Tammy Covalt, who is offering her services as a grant writer for the city at what Mayor Browne considered to be a very reasonable fee. Covalt has written many grants for the benefit of the citizens of Bridgeport, including for the library remodeling project, maker space machinery, and the Bridgeport Tennis Court refurbishing project that will be finished later this fall.

Billie Mitchell announced that the Pioneer Trails Museum in Bridgeport was awarded $250.00 for outstanding museum of the summer. Also, due to the fact that they are under budget this year, she is recommending applying funds in the budget to a new gas furnace for the winter months so the artifacts and photos do not continue to freeze and deteriorate in the colder months. Council advised her to proceed with that and to stay inside her budget.
