Bridgeport High School’s One Act Team competed in the SPVA Conference in Chase County on Monday, November 23 and in the WTC competition on Tuesday, November 24 in Bridgeport. Monday’s competitors were Sutherland, Hershey, and Chase County. Tuesday’s competition saw Hemingford, Mitchell, Bayard, Gordon-Rushville, and Morrill take the stage in the engaging performances.
Bulldog head football coach Jeremy Reimers was named the C2 Nebraska High School Football Coach of the Year with the Berens Coaching Award, named after former Omaha Head Coach Mike Berens. This award is given to a coach whose team falls short of a state championship but because of the work of the coach and his team, has an incredible season.
BRIDGEPORT—The Team- Mates mentoring program received a $2,500 gift from their hometown neighbor Platte Valley Bank on Monday.
Bridgeport Public Schools and their Veterans Day Committee once again provided the community an opportunity to visit with Veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States and honored them in their annual program and thank you dinner. Many students participated by displaying photographs, soldier uniforms, scrapbooks and stories of their family members who have served in the military. Each of the classrooms in the lower elementary grades made an arts and crafts project with the Veteran’s Theme and the Red, White and Blue of the American Flag.
Dalton Village Park is looking a bit better after local Girl Scout Cassandra Hopwood made it her mission to spruce up the rundown basketball court and make it as good as new while earning her Silver Award in this 100+ hour project that ran four weekends this fall. Hopwood, a tenth-year Girl Scout, is a member of Dalton’s troop 10222 and a Freshman at Bridgeport High School.
