Morrill County Courthouse was the place of thanksgiving Tuesday morning when a young Burr Oak was planted on the north lawn of the 113-year-old building, in celebration of 150 years of Arbor Day and 50 years of Nebraska Natural Resources Districts.

The lack of air conditioning in the courtroom was a hot topic at the meeting of the Morrill County Commissioners on Tuesday morning.The unit that provides cooling to the district courtroom, jury room and counselor room is no longer usable and must be replaced. Commissioner Schmidt noted that there is a twenty-week waiting period for units.
An update to an old sign at the historic Pioneer Trails Museum in Bridgeport has been made possible by hometown neighbor Platte Valley Bank.The Days of Glory artwork, originally created by local artist Bernie Miller, had its final touches complete last week as the huge sign was attached to the side of the vintage caboose.The original sign, made of wood, stood in that place decades before part of the sign went missing and the rest faded by weather through the years.
