On July 11, 2022, solar cars participating in the American Solar Challenge 2022 on the Oregon National Historic Trail came through Bridgeport on their way to Scotts Bluff National Monument in Gering. The stop at the historic location, a partner of the American Solar Challenge, was for the public to view the vehicles in a road rally style event. The cars, some single occupant vehicles with space only for a driver, and some for multiple occupants, followed the trail from Independence, MO, with eight stops before reaching Twin Falls, ID. There were two scheduled public events in Nebraska, with one in Grand Island over the weekend.

It was a match up of the two Bulldog twelve and under baseball teams earlier this month when Todd Eichthaler’s team took on Ryan Shultz’s team on the local field. Both sides wacked away at the ball at bat, pitchers poised on the mound ready to throw some strikes and . defense ready to field some plays. The two teams were most evenly matched, but the score board went on the fritz and the final tally is a mystery. A good time was had by all.
